      Spotted Knifefish

These fish look pretty cool.. I definitely don't think we have any like them here in America. Where can I catch one, how hard are they to catch, and which lures attract them best?

These are known in Thailand as the Clown Featherback.

All featherbacks are suckers for the good ole worm.

They wil take fly or small lure (they have a small mouth).

In Chiang Mai I know Dreamlake & Teak Tree have a good stock as does the River Ping. Palm Tree Lagoon also has a good stock of these nearer Bangkok

This fish is native to Thailand and all the featherback species can be found in the local rivers.

I had to look this one up because I had no idea what one of these look like.  They do have a small mouth so that rules out the larger hooks and bait  Worms are good and easy to come by.  Simon. I don't know the answer to your question but they might put you under the jail.  Ha!

I think there are actually two or three varieties native to Thailand, aren't there? Seems like I was reading something about featherback fish on a related site.

There are probably 4 types of Featherback that you can fish for in Thailand.

Giant Featherback, Clown or Spotted Featherback, Blanc's Stripped Featherback (Royal Knifefish in aquarium trade) and the Grey Featherback.
